Bump & Grind is a fairly wide open trail that starts with some pretty steep climbing with tight switchbacks. After leveling off a bit you have really great bench-cut singletrack through the mountainside with incredible views of the city. It finally turns into a long doubletrack climb to the top of the mountain.
When you get to the top you can take turn back or try the even steeper, more technical Hop Along trail down. Fast in some areas, white knuckle, brake riding in others. Be careful, some areas leave little margin for error.
In Palm Desert, take Fred Waring Drive all the way West till you hit the street <br /><br />Painter's Path. This is right next to the Target Shopping Center. Turn left on <br /><br />Painter's Path and you'll see a fenced in RC car track on the right hand side. <br /><br />Park on the road near it and look for the stone trailhead sign.
